Job Description

Assist in patient care and other ward related duties as directed by and under supervision of the staff nurse. 3.2 Respond quickly to patient’s request for assistance. 3.3 Assist with patient’s elimination, mobility, and physical comfort, eating and drinking needs while observing and reporting any specific changes to the staff nurse. 3.4 Assist the nursing staff in bed making, sponge bathing, and other hygienic activity of the patient. 3.5 Responsible for segregation of soiled linen as per infection control guidelines under the supervision of nursing personnel. 3.6 Assist in the maintenance of cleanliness in all areas including patient’s room within the unit. 3.7 Assist in the maintenance of supply and storage areas. 3.8 Act as a messenger when required- Specimen transporting, CSSD instruments, and Insurance purposes. 3.9 To be responsible to act as a part of infection prevention and control programs. 3.10 Assist nursing staff in preparing/cleaning patient’s room for admission/discharge. 3.11 Participates in any scheduled educational activities 3.12 Escort stable patients by wheelchairs or assist nurses with bed transport to and from Radiology Department as well as from and to other departments and assist nurse to transport patients to the operation theatre. 3.13 Assist in transporting patient, prepare surgical site by trimming hair. 3.14 Responsible for cleaning equipment’s, beds, lockers, furniture’s etc. 3.15 Cleaning of the biomedical equipment in accordance with the hospital policy JOB DESCRIPTION NURSING DEPARTMENT CAREGIVER Employee Number Date of joining First Issue Date Reviewed Date Next Revision Date HR/JD/NSG/F/026 VER-01 Page 2 of 3 3.16 Assist the nursing Staff in preparation on dressing trolly. 3.17 Assist the nurses obtain patient’s height and weight measurement. 3.18 Know hospital’s approved disinfectants and their indications for usage in their department 3.19 Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems. 3.20 Work together with the nurses for the completion of departmental inventories.
